I have recently began watching Highlander:
The Series on a regular basis since it started airing on USA.
I missed the first season and a half but, I found myself easily
caught up in what was going on. Though there were many things
I didn't understand because they had been dealt with in the episodes
I had missed. And it wasn't good just because of Adrian
Paul's looks either. He portrays a character (Duncan MacLeod)
who, although immortal, is still a believable character. He has
morals, believes in honor, and helping those who cannot help themselves
or maybe need a helping hand. Duncan has roamed the planet for
over 400 years. During that time he has lost many friends and
loved ones. That doesn't seem to have hardened him to the fact
it is part of his way of life. He has killed many immortals in
that time too. Some men, some women but most were out to do either
himself or someone he cared for harm. Again, it doesn't make it
any easier. A life is still a life.
One of Duncan's close friends is Richie Ryan, played by Stan Kirsch. Richie is a new immortal who Duncan took under his wing after Richie tried to rob Duncan's antiique store. Richie wasn't a bad kid. He just need a guiding hand, a man to look up to. With Duncan's help he turned his life around and began training to fulfill his destiny as an immortal.
Another favorite character of mine on the
show (partially cause he's cute too) is Methos/Adam Pierson, played
by Peter Wingfield. Not much is know about this character other
than he is a Watcher to most people but a few know his true identity,
Methos, a 5000 year old immortal. He is a man "born before
the age of chivalry" but that doesn't seem to show through
very often. Other than Macleod, Adam's true identity is known
by one other and that is Joe Dawson, played by Jim Byrnes. Joe
is another great character protrayed by yet another great and
good-looking actor.
Peter Wingfield also has a fan club, The PWFC,
of which I am a member. Please feel free to visit the Web
Site for the PWFC and take a look at the other Hunk
from Highlander!
