Pasadena, CA
August 26, 1995

This was the largest crowd Mitch had spoken in front of at a convention, 2500+ people. The crowd greeted him with a wonderful round of applause. He was wearing nicely faded blue jeans, a blue long sleeve shirt with the sleeves pushed up (oooh, those forearms <G>) and cowboy boots. He opened with his story about getting the part of Skinner and then took questions as a long line of people had already formed. The topic of the day seemed to be who won the elevator fight because Steven Williams was also there at the convention. A young boy came up and said he though Skinner was a whimp so Mitch challenged him to a thumb wrestling contest. I think he let the boy win <VBG>. Two females fan were even brave enough to ask Mitch if they could kiss his forehead. After much blushing and fidgeting, Mitch obliged. The question of how tall Mitch is was asked so we have it straight from him that he is 6'2". He told us that he worked for the Defense Department before getting into acting and traveled through much of the Middle East and Europe. He also sings, although he would not give us a demonstration, even at the urging of his mother. Steven Williams came out on stage and posed with Mitch for a few minutes before leaving the convention. At the end of the convention he signed autographs. I went up to him and he remembered me from Vegas and I gave him a T-shirt from the TeX-Files gathering in Austin as well as a package of stuff from the MPEB. I had my picture taken with him and then waited with a group of friends until he was done signing autographs (about 4 hours later). He posed for a picture with us and I spoke with him once again about the package and that if he wished to contact me regarding it, my address and phone were inside. (Little did I know that 3 days later he would actually call me! I wasn't home to talk with him, but he did leave a wonderful message on my answering machine.) As usual, Mitch was very polite, well-mannered, and an all-around gentleman. Would we expect any less <G>?
